Celebrating Matariki with our kiritaki

We were thrilled to welcome our wonderful kiritaki/clients and their whānau to The Hearing House to celebrate Matariki together — a special time of reflection, remembrance, and renewal.

This annual celebration continues the theme at the heart of why we gather — to honour those who have recently had their cochlear implants switched on. For many, this marks the beginning of a life-changing journey, and it’s especially meaningful to acknowledge this milestone during Matariki — a time that symbolises new beginnings and hope for the year ahead.

This year’s celebration held even more meaning as we took the opportunity to honour those who have recently had their cochlear implants switched on. For many, this moment marks the beginning of a life-changing journey, and it was incredibly special to recognise this milestone in the spirit of Matariki — a time traditionally dedicated to new beginnings and hope for the year ahead.

Our space was filled with warmth, laughter, and connection as we came together to share kai, stories, and support. The event reminded us of the power of community and the importance of taking time to pause and celebrate how far we’ve come.

To all who joined us: thank you for being part of such a memorable day. Mānawatia a Matariki — Happy Māori New Year from all of us at The Hearing House. 🌟
