Quota Papakura, a valued supporter of The Hearing House over the past quarter of a century, has celebrated its 50th anniversary of service to the local community.
The Hearing House CEO Dr Claire Green joined other guests of Quota Papakura at the Karaka celebrations, including Grant Searchfield, Head of the Department of Audiology at the University of Auckland and co-director of the Eisdell Moore Centre. Professor Searchfield was a past recipient of a Quota Papakura scholarship for audiology students, which have also included senior audiologist Caroline Selvaratnam and audiologists Briana Putnam and Derek Hadfield.
Quota Papakura is part of Quota New Zealand which is a non-profit service organisation empowering women and children, the deaf and hard of hearing, and people with speech difficulties in local communities.

The connection with The Hearing House was first started in 2000 by The Hearing House’s late patron, Phil Ryall, and his family.
Over the past twenty-five years, Quota members from throughout the upper North Island have worked tirelessly to fundraise for resources and support services, including specialised equipment and books for The Hearing House’s therapy programmes and outreach clinics, a playground for the Joyce Fisher Centre (when the centre was used as an early learning centre), repair fund and outreach clinics, and the fit-out of the Quota Counselling room.
Quota Papakura also donates the proceeds from its annual Antiques Fairs to The Hearing House, has planted and maintained the gardens at the Joyce Fisher Centre and each year, members decorate The Hearing House Christmas tree.
Hearing House CEO Dr Claire Green says, “The Hearing House couldn’t do what it does without the support of its loyal funders and supporters, including Quota Papakura.
“It was very special to be able to join them in their 50th birthday celebrations, and to see the recognition given to members for their dedicated support."
