We’re excited to report that our mobile hearing van will be on the road in 2024!

Plans for the interior design and fit out have now approved by the team and we’re so proud of the work that has gone into the vision of The Hearing House van, and the difference it will make to people’s lives.

The Volkswagen van is due to arrive in New Zealand early in the New Year and work will then begin on the fit-out by Te Rapa-based Wade Group – the specialist vehicle customisation company that does the fit-out for a range of vehicles including emergency services.

The outside of the van will feature a tā moko design by renowned Maori artist Graham Tipene (Ngāti Whātua, Ngāti Kahu, Ngāti Hine, Ngāti Haua, Ngāti Manu) of Te Wheke Moko Design Studio.

The hearing van will serve communities from Cape Reinga to Taupō, working with kura/schools, marae, community groups and festival organisers in regional areas. It will be staffed by our outreach staff, including audiologists and speech language therapists.

If you have any ideas of spaces or organisations we can partner with in order to help expand our reach, we’d love to hear from you!  We’re looking for organisations that can provide easy access to carparks and bathrooms, as well as an indoor room or space.

Please email Tara Barr on tara@hearinghouse.co.nz if you can help.
